The Judges' Notes
Three separate panels tasted Chance Clean Cider. Here's a flavour of what came back:
On appearance and aroma: The panel noted a deep gold, light amber colour with a rich aroma of baked apples — the kind of colour and nose you'd expect from a proper, traditionally made cider rather than a soft drink dressed up as one.
On taste and structure: Judges highlighted good fruit body on the palate, with acidity and tannins that were well combined, finishing clean, appley, and dry with medium length. One panel went further, praising the juicy fruitiness balanced against a tannic, drier finish, followed by a long, apple-filled aftertaste — concluding it was a great example of a low-alcohol cider with true flavour and authenticity.
On character as a non-alcoholic cider: A third panel focused specifically on what it means to make a cider without the alcohol, describing a bright gold cider with a lively sparkle, good structure, and some natural astringency that helps balance the sweetness — genuine cider characteristics that are notoriously hard to replicate without alcohol.
