The Slow Weekend Movement: Simple Ways to Spend the Bank Holiday

The Slow Weekend Movement: Simple Ways to Spend the Bank Holiday

Are you a plan crammer? You know the type. Packing out your Bank holidays with big plans. Day trips. Parties. Beaches packed like sardines. Oh it’s all good fun but, sometimes all you really want is a bit of calm and some proper breathing space.

So this time around, we’re slowing things down. No rushing, no pressure - just simple ideas to help you enjoy the long weekend in a way that gives you the chance to relax.

Bonus: they all pair perfectly with a cold bottle of our non-alcoholic cider.

So here’s to doing less, and loving it more.

1. Host a "Do Nothing" Picnic

Forget the Pinterest-perfect spread. Just grab a blanket, your fancy snacks (crisps count), and a bottle or two of chilled cider. Head to your nearest park or even simpler, the back garden. Simpler still, someone else’s back garden. Lie back, watch the clouds, and let yourself zone out. It’s good for the soul.

2. Date Yourself

No group chats. No coordinating all the schedules. No failed Whatsapp polls. Just you doing you, doing something that feels good. Be open to: a museum wander, a second hand shop crawl, or a slow amble with no real destination. Bring your favourite playlist, and you might just find your soulmate in yourself.

3. Start a Tiny Garden

It’s that Chelsea Flower Show this weekend so get inspired. Not the full veg patch - unless that’s your thing. Just a windowsill, a few pots, and something green to take care of. Herbs, succulents, and cherry tomatoes are all low-maintenance and high yield. It’s a soulful way to connect with nature without ever leaving home. Bonus points if you sip a cider while planting.

4. Plan a “No-Plan” Day with Friends

Invite a few mates over with one rule: no plans, no pressure. Maybe you cook something together, maybe you just sit around in comfy clothes chatting and playing music. Let it unfold naturally. Sometimes the best memories are the unplanned ones.

So here’s your permission slip to slow it right down this bank holiday. No itinerary needed. Just you, some fresh air, and a drink that tastes like summer in a bottle.

We’ll cheers to that.
